Z-104 has had it's share of voice tracking from out of town since at least 2002.

Actually, during the week Z-104 is more local than it has been (minus Elvis Duran) Weekends are 50/50.

The station, given market size could easily have a lineup like this (There's a lot of smaller CC Top-40 stations that run Premium Choice almost 24/7)

Take KSFT Sioux City (This is the CHR station in Sioux City, Iowa, 107.1 KISS FM. It's usually at or near the top of the ratings in that market)

Overnights: Sisanie (Premium Choice. Generic voice tracks from Los Angeles. National playlist)

Mornings: Rob Powers (The only live and local host on this station. He also uses a National playlist.)

Middays: Seacrest (Syndicated)

Afternoons: JJ (Premium Choice. Generic voice tracks from New York. National playlist)

Evenings: Billy The Kidd (Premium Choice. Generic voice tracks from Dallas. National playlist.) One time during this shift there were a mess of tornado warnings in the area. Rob Powers must care about his listeners and his job, because he went into work way off of his normal shift to give reports on it.

Late Evenings: JoJo (Premium Choice. Generic voice tracks from Los Angeles. National Playlist)

Weekends: Premium Choice. Generic voice tracks from Chicago, Los Angeles, New York. National playlist.

Syndicated National shows: Club Kane. Romeo.

Now compare that with Z-104:
Overnights: Olivia Mornae. Local host. Likely voice tracked. National playlist.

Mornings: Elvis Duran

Middays: Katie Kruz. Local host. Live possibly, could be voice tracked partially.

Late Middays/Early Afternoons: Ryan Seacrest Syndicated

Afternoons: Aaron Rodgers. He's voice tracked in Milwaukee.

Evenings: Big D. Local.

Weekends: Mix of Premium Choice and syndicated programming and probably some local.

Over the years, the Midday slot has been heavily voice tracked from out of town. Randi West did Middays in 2004. As did Danny Wright, among others.

Z-104 has it good for CHR stations owned by Clear Channel in small markets these days. Don't forget that. They could easily be like KSFT.
