You may have noticed that they put new liners into the rotation at the beginning of the year that de-emphasize "progressive talk" (i.e. the term isn't even used). Oh sure, some of the old "Madison's progressive talk" liners are still in use, and some of the new liners make mention of Stephanie Miller, Rachel Maddow, etc., but the new liners make the station sound as if it's just another talk station. Perhaps that's Clear Channel's plan, to somewhat reposition The Mic as, though not quite a carbon copy of WIBA, not entirely all left-wing all the time.

I imagine that you'll see that de-emphasis on a lot of other progressive talk stations (and maybe a few right-wing talk stations) around the country this year. With the election year behind us, the average listener may be tired of all-politics and desires to listen (and talk) more about the economy. Perhaps that's why The Mic added, in Dave Ramsey, a financial-oriented talk show.

: Wow.. after giving the station all that time to build, so much for keeping the progressive stance alive here in one of the most progressive cities in the nation. Dropping Thom Hartmann for Dave Ramsey? Thom Hartmann has done a damn good job stepping up to the plate after the Randi Rhodes stupidity. I like Dave Ramsey and occasionally catch him on FBN, but at best, on 92.1, positioned as a Progressive station, he should be on overnights.

: And then Rayburn out? His page IS still active and available on the Mic site, but its link has been removed from the "Hosts" list.

: I forsee something big happening. Can't wait to hear what Ferris has cooked up this time. Let me guess.. MAD RADIO is back!!

: btw, Lee Rayburn never had an official "show" with Air America, he's local in the mornings here. He just did a lot of fill in for the network when people were on vacation. Which was pretty cool for Madison I must say.
