The promotional ads about digital TV explain the converter, but they don't explain the limitations of digital transmissions and don't warn people that their location might not get the new signal even with the converter box and their current antenna.

Looking at the signal maps, it appears that we will need a multidirectional antenna TALLER THAN OUR HOUSE to be able to get the full, clear digital TV signal.

We don't have money for an antenna or satellite TV service, and arent serviced by any cable companies.

We have our converter coupon and will build the HDTV antenna shown on http://uhfhdtvantenna.blogspot.com/ and put it up in the attic. If that doesn't work then I guess we'll just have to go back to the Old Deal - a 1930's lifestyle without tv.

: One potential pitfall is that many people who think they are prepared for the analog shutoff could lose some channels -- or possibly even lose reception entirely -- unless they purchase a new antenna.
