What you have is representative of what people want to hear/ what programmers think will make them money.

1. You will never see liberal talk because Wisconsin is one of the most conservative states in the US right now (and the young 18-25 demo doesn't listen to political talk radio). When you think talk radio, you have to think males 25-54. That's why sports talk works (kind of) and why conservative talk works, because it targets that demo.

2. Classical targets an older demo (45+), which doesn't spend money like the younger demos do. Every station either targets 18-49 or 25-54. Classical is just too old. Classical music stations are a dying breed, which is too bad.

3. If you're going to make a case for a station Milwaukee ought to have, you could make a good argument for smooth jazz, but it's been done before and it didn't really work.

4. Look at the ratings for WMIL and WRIT. Both stations are astronomical, despite the fact that they are both automated jukeboxes. Someone ought to give them both a run for their money (the same way that CC is giving Kiss a run for it's money). But for whatever reason, the competition just hasn't caught on. Country is HUGE right now. A well-programmed country station would be an incredible business move. Unfortunately the competition just doesn't have it. But how amazing would it be if we had a real live and local country station to destroy FM106? That would be awesome!

And too bad no one else stepped in to steal the oldies numbers when CC tried to go another direction with 95.7.
