: : John I was referring to the new domain supposedly registered which doesn't mention 1670AM whatsoever. In fact, the speculation is that La Movida moves to 1670 and WTDY moves off the AM band to the FM stick. In that case it's a horrible 'upgrade'.

: : Thanks for your input, though.

: So, you're basing this whole "WTDY is going to 106.7 only" theory just by the newly registered domain name? OK...

: There would be some irony to WLMV bumping WTDY from 1670, considering 1480 is WTDY's original home, before Midwest got the expanded band allotment for 1670 ... but I'm skeptical.

: There's no need to move 1480 to 1670 -- Midwest and the other expanded band winners gamed the system and got to keep the original stations. 1480 was supposed to have been shutdown and its license returned to the FCC years ago, but at this point, it doesn't appear the FCC is going to claw back 1480 or any of the other expanded band replacement stations anytime soon, if ever.

: So, what would the rationale be for moving WLMV to 1670? Especially when its ratings are even worse than WTDY's?

: Sorry, but this doesn't pass the sniff test.

: Midwest thinking "Hey, other news/talk stations have dramatically boosted their ratings by moving to FM or adding an FM simulcast -- we should try that!" makes a lot more sense, even if they'll do it in typical Mid-West fashion: half-assed. 106.7

What's the reason that 1480 and the others are still on the air? I remember that WKSH shut off 1370 as fast as they could after the move to 1640. Maybe too fast since it turned out that they could have kept it on.
