I do believe Clear Channel has on staff people who do this engineering and legal work for them.

Even if they did pay a a consultant to do this work and file with the FCC, the money spent is really not as dramatic as your making it out to be. It's most likely in the couple-thousand-dollar range.

Besides, it wasn't a bad idea. It just turned out it was going to be a lot of money for not a lot of gain.

: So ... in the last few weeks Clear Channel finally changed the city of license on WMAD from Sauk City to Cross Plains and on WIBA-FM from Madison to Sauk City. Back when they filed to do this a few years ago, the plan was to move WMAD to the Community Tower and diplex off the WIBA antenna, lowering power on WMAD from 5100 watts to 620 watts.

: Turns out, CC changed the application for WMAD to keep its existing transmitter facility on US-12 near Roxbury.

: So what exactly did they get for all of the legal and engineering fees they must've paid for this boondoggle other than longer top of the hour IDs? Classic Clear Channel. Piss money away on dipshit ideas like lowering the power on WMAD to near translator levels but cheap out on hiring on-air talent.

: Glad they changed their minds and are leaving it as is.
