I got a haircut last week, and the stylist, just making small talk, asked me if I had heard Fish was on 93.1. She happened to come across his new show on 93.1 earlier that day and said it was awful. And that she guessed the pyramid scheme thing didn't work out. No joke.

Fish was OK with Connie (and the two were hillarious once upon a time ... I once lived out in Nebraska and heard them when they were doing mornings on a local college station in Omaha, KIWR, and their show was great. Almost as good as the Free Beer & Hot Wings show, which also started on the River).

Anyway, I digress. Not to be harsh, but Fish isn't all that 'likable' as a host. He comes across as kind of a d-bag. The whole pyramid scheme thing + walking away from your long-time co-host then setting up shop at a competitor -- in the same time slot -- doesn't really help your rep, either. When he was paired with Connie, there was kind of a balance, but now that he's more or less on his own (I have to agree, the two chicks on his show don't really contribute much), the show tilts a little too far on the d-bag scale for most people.

I don't necessarily blame MWF for trying -- it's live and local and Fish is an established name in the market. He's not a terrible fit for the format, but he's not a great fit, either. I just don't see this working out long-term.
