Madison Media Institute Instructors Honored at MAMA Awards

MADISON, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE Press Release)--Recording and Music Technology instructors, Biff Blumfumgagnge, Chris Godxilla Taylor and Hanah Jon Taylor were honored at this year’s Madison Area Music Association Awards. Mr. Biff was honored individually and as a member of The Gomers and The Zombeatles. The award ceremony took place on May 8th at the Overture Center’s Capital Theater.

“A Hard Day’s Night of the Living Dead”
.The Unique Song of the Year winner was “Alien vs. Predator” by The Gomers, co wrote by Mr. Biff and Dave Adler. Mr. Biff played every instrument and did lead vocals for this song which was recorded at Madison Media Institute and mixed by Godxilla. MMI’s Studio Recording class did the recording and background vocals. Not only is “Alien vs. Predator” a unique song in itself, but also in the way that it was created.

Unique Album of the Year went to “Meet the Zombeatles” by The Zombeatles, which was also recorded at MMI and mixed by Godxilla. The album features songs entitled, “Ate Brains a Week” and “I Wanna Eat Your Hand.” The Zombeatles originally came to be as a seasonal alter ego for The Gomers, and after their video, “A Hard Day’s Night of the Living Dead” was chosen by Rob Zombie as his favorite Halloween YouTube video, their popularity increased dramatically. The Zombeatles were featured in The Zombeatles: All You Need Is Brains, a short film written and directed by Doug Gordon, a Wisconsin Public Radio producer, and shot and edited by Madison filmmaker Ben Wydeven.

Biff Blumfumgagnge also won the title of String Player of the Year. “I am humbled and honored at these awards, and happy to shine some more positive light on Madison Media Institute,” said Mr. Biff. Hanah Jon Taylor, jazz musician and MMI instructor, was nominated for Best Instrumentalist, Best Jazz Performer and Best Jazz Album (Hyrplasis). He performed at the MAMA awards with Mr. Biff in the “MAMA All-Star Fusion Band” and presented the award for World Music Album of the Year.
