from Wisconsin State Journal
The Wisconsin State Journal’s Capitol reporters won two national awards recently for their coverage of the state budget shortfall and the state’s threatened Native American languages.
Jason Stein and Mark Pitsch won second place in the In-Depth Reporting category for large newspapers from the Association of Capitol Reporters and Editors for their two-day series, "Busted: Wisconsin’s Broken Budget."
Stein also won a first-place award in the Associate category from the Native American Journalists Association for his three-day series on the languages of Wisconsin’s Indian tribes, "Down to a Whisper."
