i did not understand how journal would let 'the lake' go so easily, but i figured they were completely done with the format and the concept so they didn't waste their time on it. a legal fight makes more sense from a journal perspective and from a purely business perspective. that said, they dont have the rights to call any radio station 'the lake'. i see it being a questionable case before any kind of court or arbitration. theyre trying to defend intellectual property they just discarded use of.. and i dont see any trademark registrations for 'the lake' owned by journal or anyone else that may have granted them use of it and would be the one defending its own rights to license it to other stations in the market.
